  • Gap analysis determining whether all necessary papers are present
  • Examine study and evaluation documents (such as as-built records and geotechnical surveys).
  • Review of grid connectivity, technology engineering, and design
  • Site inspections are carried out to evaluate the state of the technology.
  • Review of site appropriateness based on geographic data, including roads, forests, soil, slope, and sun irradiation
  • Contracts for EPC, O&M, PPA, TCA, and PSA are reviewed.
  • Permits and environmental/social consequences are examined to make sure they adhere to legal requirements and lending criteria (IFC PS)
  • Comparative analysis of costs for comparable projects in the market (benchmark of CAPEX, OPEX)
  • Report findings in a “Red flag” report that emphasizes dangers and risk mitigations where they may be put into practice.

Depending on the requirements of the client and the stage of development of the solar PV plant—whether it is in preconstruction, under construction, or in operation—the assessment of project-specific documentation is conducted in a number of stages and at varying degrees of detail.

Environment & Permits

The core of a technical due diligence is the investigation of permits in relation to their effect on the design, building, and operation of solar projects. In order for the buyer to begin the discussion, Ramboll will determine if the solar PV plant complies with rules and what it would cost to fix any violations.

We provide reviews of:

  • Permits & license status
  • Environmental regulatory compliance issues
  • Process Safety issues
  • Health & Safety regulatory compliance issues
  • Waste management
  • Known and potential areas of concern and overall risk of soil or groundwater contamination
